Combi Boiler
A combi boiler, short for combination boiler, is a type of boiler that provides both hot water and central heating to a property in a single unit. Unlike traditional boilers, which require a separate hot water tank or cylinder, a combi boiler heats water on demand, as it is needed, eliminating the need for a separate storage tank.
Combi boilers work by drawing in cold water from the mains supply and heating it as it passes through a heat exchanger, which is powered by either gas, oil or electricity. The hot water is then delivered directly to the taps or shower, providing instant hot water whenever it is required. At the same time, the boiler circulates hot water through the radiators to heat the property.
Combi boilers are popular in smaller properties, such as apartments or bungalows, where space is at a premium. They are also more efficient than traditional boilers, as they only heat the water that is needed, reducing energy waste and lowering bills.
However, combi boilers may not be suitable for larger properties with high hot water demand, as they may struggle to keep up with demand during peak periods. They also require regular maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation.
